As we enter one of the busiest shopping times of the year, it’s important to take steps to keep safe while shopping and enjoying the holiday season. Being aware of your surroundings while shopping in person and considering your safety online can prevent you from becoming a victim this holiday season. Paying attention to your surroundings and reporting suspicious activity can help prevent, stop or solve a crime. Check out PSO’s news site and social media pages for more safety information. Stay safe Pasco!
Crimes of opportunity, such as package theft, often increase during this busy shopping season. If you know you will be away for a delivery, have packages delivered to a safe location such as an office, a package room or to a trusted neighbor who is home during the day. If it’s available from a retailer, elect for free in-store delivery, order pick-up lockers or curbside pick-up for extra security that works with your schedule. If a package is stolen, notify the retailer and delivery company, and file a report with law enforcement.
As sales start appearing, don’t let your valuables vanish. Taking extra precautions this holiday season goes a long way in ensuring that you, your loved ones and your property stay safe. Visit PSO’s news site and follow PSO’s social media pages for the latest updates and more crime prevention information.
While assisting Pasco Fire Rescue on a medical call, District 3 patrol deputies recently met a citizen that was being taken to the hospital for treatment. However, the citizen had no way to transport her medical scooter to the hospital and had to leave it behind. The citizen advised it was her only means of mobility and would need it when discharged from the hospital. With a little problem solving (and some reorganization), deputies were able to transport the medical scooter to the hospital for the citizen in their patrol car. PSO deputies are happy to assist in whatever way they can and make sure citizens have access to the resources they need.
