MAY 2025

May recognizes Mental Health Awareness Month; as such, we’re addressing how mental health affects our communities. The Pasco Sheriff’s Office works on thousands of cases related to mental health per year. Although this is a healthcare issue, we understand that mental health wellness is essential to reducing crime and fostering a safe, thriving community. For this reason, PSO shares mental health resources on our website and implements initiatives to support our citizens. In line with our motto, “We Fight As One,” we can improve the lives of those struggling with mental health and their loved ones by staying informed, communicating and showing support. We encourage citizens to share our resource page to help reduce the stigma surrounding mental health and spread the word about these helpful services.

Nothing beats our Florida heat like a day on the water, but a fun day can turn tragic quickly if you don’t know essential water safety tips. Therefore, Pasco Sheriff’s Office provides steps to follow before, during and after a day of swimming. Implementing these safety instructions ensures that the day is fun and safe. Read our latest article to learn more, and don’t forget to share these tips with others to help us reduce water-related incidents in our area.

Pasco Sheriff’s Office recently partnered with the U.S. Coast Guard to certify seven of our K9 deputies in hoisting. This training ensures that both our team members and their K9 partners feel comfortable loading into and deploying from helicopters. These skills are resourceful during search and recovery operations, enabling our personnel to reach areas that are difficult to access from the ground. Our partnership with the U.S. Coast Guard for this training began in 2021. PSO is the only law enforcement agency in the country to work with them on K9 hoisting. We’re grateful for this collaboration, which expands our capabilities and increases public safety.
