May recognizes Mental Health Awareness Month; as such, we’re addressing how mental health affects our communities. The Pasco Sheriff’s Office works on thousands of cases related to mental health per year. Although this is a healthcare issue, we understand that mental health wellness is essential to reducing crime and fostering a safe, thriving community. For this reason, PSO shares mental health resources on our website and implements initiatives to support our citizens. In line with our motto, “We Fight As One,” we can improve the lives of those struggling with mental health and their loved ones by staying informed, communicating and showing support. We encourage citizens to share our resource page to help reduce the stigma surrounding mental health and spread the word about these helpful services.
Let’s Make It A Safe Summer!
Pasco County students are officially on summer break, and we want to make sure they stay safe while making the most of their time off! To help them enjoy every moment safely, the Pasco Sheriff’s Office is providing summer safety tips.
· Drive carefully in residential areas and be mindful of children playing.
· Learn about the apps your children use and the people they talk to online.
· Keep track of your children’s whereabouts and help them memorize important phone numbers.
· Teach your children how to swim, and always ensure they swim with a buddy.
· Remind them not to swim farther than they can handle or hold their breath longer than they are comfortable with.
· Stay hydrated and wear sunblock!

The Pasco Sheriff’s Office School Crossing Guards (SCGs) and Traffic Control Officers (TCOs) recently took part in a local Graduation Walk-Out event for preschoolers. As the students celebrated this important milestone with a walk outside, the SCGs and TCOs were present to help them cross the streets safely. Additionally, our team distributed bike lights to promote their safety on future walks to school.
Throughout the year, our School Crossing Guard Unit provides pedestrian safety training to children in Pasco County aged 4 to 11. The students at the walk-out received this training earlier in the year to help them transition to their new school. We are thankful for our strong partnerships with Pasco County schools, which allow us to share valuable safety training with students.
