The Pasco Sheriff’s Office strives to keep our citizens informed about potential online risks, one of which is data collection. Your personal information is valuable, and thanks to the internet, it’s more accessible than ever. Your online activity leaves a trail of information that can be exploited if it falls into the wrong hands. This could lead to identity theft or other forms of exploitation, which can have severe consequences.
Treat your data with the same level of protection that you would give your wallet. By remaining alert and strengthening your cybersecurity, we can minimize the risk of this crime. To help you understand the implications of data collection and learn about effective strategies to safeguard your information, we have published a detailed article on our news site. We encourage you to review this information to ensure you’re taking the proper precautions to protect your data.
With love in the air for Valentine’s Day, many people are searching for their perfect match online. While these sites are convenient for making connections, scammers also use them to steal people’s money and hearts. Pasco Sheriff’s Office encourages anyone who uses these websites or apps to learn how to be a less susceptible target, understand the strategies they use to lure you in, and put in place good safety habits. Throughout the year, our School Crossing Guard Unit provides pedestrian safety training to children aged 4 to 11 in Pasco County. The training includes an interactive exercise that allows students to test their knowledge of pedestrian safety. We all play a role in community safety, and these interactions help children gain the confidence to make responsible choices, benefiting both themselves and those around them.
For many children, these moments represent their first interactions with law enforcement, fostering positive relationships with youth in our community from an early age. We are grateful for our strong partnerships with Pasco County schools, which enable us to deliver essential safety training to students.
