Miniature motorized transportation is becoming very popular in our community, but not everyone is driving them safely or legally.
In some cases, people are selecting what they believe to be an electric bicycle, but what they’re really getting is an electric motorcycle or something that may not be legally driven on roads at all. In addition, these vehicles may create dangerous situations on roads, sidewalks or in bike lanes. These vehicles often exceed the speed limits for traditional bicycles, posing a risk to both riders and pedestrians. It’s important for buyers to understand the differences and ensure compliance with local laws to maintain safety for everyone.
We know these items are likely at the top of many children’s wish lists this year, and we don’t want anyone to be caught off guard. Therefore, the Pasco Sheriff’s Office provides helpful information below and on our social media platforms to clarify rules and regulations. Please take a moment to review this information and share it with your friends. We will enforce these laws.
Have a wonderful holiday season, and ride safely, Pasco!

Pasco Sheriff’s Office members recently attended several Great American Teach-Ins for Pasco County children! The students were thrilled to learn more about law enforcement and the different supporting roles within our agency. PSO Animal-Assisted Therapy K9s made friends with students while showcasing how they benefit the community. These interactions are crucial in teaching students about the importance of working together as a community. PSO was granted permission to use these photos.
Those interested in having a Pasco Sheriff’s Office member speak at their Great American Teach-In can request a speaker online at PascoSheriff.com/Schedule-PSO/. All requests must be made 90 days in advance.
