PSO’s Explorer Post 916 is proud to offer an innovative new program introducing those ages 14-21 to the exciting world of unmanned aerial systems (or drones) and forensics. These fields are integral to law enforcement operations and this program offer a science-based look at roles outside of what is traditionally thought of as a responsibility of a law enforcement officer.
The program includes instruction from guest speakers from PSO’s Forensics and UAS/Drone units, as well as PSO’s F1RST (Florida’s Institute for Research, Security and Tactics) and others.
The introductory meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 15 from 6 to 8 p.m. The meeting will be at Safety Town, which is located at 15362 Alric Pottberg Rd., Shady Hills. Registration for the meeting is strongly encouraged and can be completed here.
Explorer Post 916 provides young citizens insight into law enforcement operations and opportunities to build a variety of important life skills. A myriad of trainings are included, and there are opportunities to partake in specialty teams. These trainings build confidence, communication skills and instill a sense of responsibility and accountability in participants. Members have the chance to compete at the state and national level, participate in ride- alongs with PSO deputies, discover the operations of units across PSO, volunteer within their communities and more.
