School Alert: River Ridge Middle School Student Arrested

SCHOOL ALERT

A River Ridge Middle School student was arrested today after making a hoax threat to conduct a shooting at their school. The 13-year-old student made the threat as a joke on Snapchat and was arrested for Written Threats to Kill or Conduct a Mass Shooting, which is a felony.

Another River Ridge Middle School student was also charged with obstruction after concealing the identity of the student that made the threat. To be clear, there are no threats to the school, as the threat made was determined to be a joke.

This case serves as an important reminder that PSO investigates all threats and that threats made even as a joke have serious consequences. Additionally, PSO urges parents and guardians to speak with students about their conduct on social media and how posting things such as this has serious consequences as well.
