Welcome K-9 Harley

Pasco Sheriff’s Office is excited to announce yet another new addition to our K-9 unit, K-9 Harley! K-9 Harley is a Belgian Malinois/German Shepherd cross born in Hungary on July 22, 2021. He began working for PSO in Feb. 2023 and is currently assigned to the Highway Interdiction Team as a single-purpose narcotics detection K-9. K-9 Harley is a tall and energetic boy, who loves being close to his partner at home. He also loves squeaky toys in particular.

As with all of PSO’s K-9s, the money to purchase, train and equip K-9 Harley was generously donated by community members. We’re deeply grateful for members of the Del Webb Bexley community that donated the funds for K-9 Harley.

K-9 Harley is the newest member of PSO’s Highway Interdiction Team. This team, which consists of six K-9 and handler teams, a corporal and a sergeant, works to reduce the flow of dangerous narcotics throughout Pasco County. K-9 Harley’s partner is Dep. Frisco, a long-time member of the Highway Interdiction Team. Dep. Frisco’s previous partner was K-9 Strong, a single-purpose narcotics detection K-9 who sadly passed away in Dec. 2021.

PSO’s K-9 unit is one of the largest and most diversely skilled K-9 units in Florida. In addition to scent detection K-9s, like Harley, the K-9 unit also consists of dogs trained to track those who are missing after long delays or in the wake of disasters, K-9s trained to locate human remains, explosives and electronic storage devices, K-9s integrated with PSO’s SWAT team and animal-assisted therapy K-9s that help comfort those in crisis. The unique skillset of our K-9s allows PSO to serve our community, no matter the requirement. Additionally, K-9s help deputies solves cases faster than deputies working alone, allowing deputies to return to calls for service faster.

Please join us in welcoming the newest four-legged member of PSO!
