HISPANIC HERITAGE AWARDS

Last week, one of PSO’s own was honored with a 2022 Viva Tampa Bay Hispanic Heritage Distinguished First Responder award! Cpl. Rich Ortiz is an integral member of PSO’s Community Engagement team, where he embodies PSO’s motto of “We Fight As One.” Along with his partner, Animal-Assisted Therapy K9 Mango, they help PSO maintain strong relationships with those we serve. Cpl. Ortiz is also a member of PSO’s Critical Incident Stress Management and Hostage Negotiation teams, and has been part of the Behavioral Health Intervention Team prior to his current assignment. Cpl. Ortiz enjoys public speaking and in particular, engaging Hispanic communities. His passion for serving his community in their most critical hour shines through in his work and we’re incredibly proud of Cpl. Ortiz for being recognized with this honor! Additionally, Sheriff Chris Nocco was honored as the Distinguished Amigo at the same ceremony. Congrats, Cpl. Ortiz and Sheriff Nocco!
