Community Alert: Shooting, Land O’ Lakes

Update: As stated by Sheriff Chris Nocco at the earlier news conference, PSO is currently investigating a murder suicide of two adults in the Marchmont Blvd. area of Land O’ Lakes. Deputies received a call just after 8:15 p.m. this evening about a shooting. A witness, who was providing child care for the family, stated that a man began shooting at an adult female and her five-year-old child who were walking the witness to their car. The witness immediately called 911. Deputies arrived to find the adult woman shot in the front lawn. Deputies took the woman to safety, but she had died as a result of gunshot wounds. The girl had gone into the house following the shooting, along with the man, who is the child’s father. The child went to her room and the father went to another room in the house, where he shot himself. When deputies arrived at the house, the child came out of the house after hearing the deputies outside. Deputies later found the man deceased inside the house, as a result of that shooting. All parties are accounted for, and the child is receiving medical care, as well as resources from PSO’s Victim Advocates.

Domestic violence and mental health related cases are something our deputies see far too often. Resources and help are available. Visit PascoSheriff.com/MentalHealth to find a list of community-based resources.
