Community Alert: Deputy Involved Shooting, Dade City

Pasco Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deputy involved shooting that occurred around 8:30 p.m. in the Rose Ave. area of Dade City and resulted in the death of Cristian Javier (25).

Around 8:25 p.m., deputies attempted to make contact with Javier to serve an ex parte order issued by a court at the request of his family due to threats he made to them. Javier was inside the residence and did not respond to numerous communication attempts. After multiple efforts to de-escalate, deputies deployed pepper balls and, shortly after, Javier fired numerous shots at deputies, and deputies returned fire. Javier was struck during this exchange. No deputies were injured. Javier was pronounced deceased on scene.

As per PSO’s standard protocol, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement will investigate the deputy-involved shooting. There is no public safety threat. The deputies who fired the rounds have been placed on paid administrative leave pursuant to policy. The investigation remains ongoing, and no additional information is available at this time.
