Update: Pasco Sheriff’s Office deputies are investigating a deputy involved shooting that occurred in the Princeton Dr. area of Bayonet Point on Jan. 19.

Pasco Sheriff’s Office deputies attempted to locate a subject for multiple felony warrants. At approximately 9:30 p.m., deputies located the subject at his residence and attempted to make contact. Following approximately 30 minutes of de-escalation attempts, the subject fled the residence out a back door with a firearm and refused to comply.

Upon the individual fleeing, a PSO K9 was released and a close-quarter altercation ensued while the individual continued to possess the firearm. Deputies discharged their firearms, and the subject was shot and pronounced deceased on scene. There were no injuries to any PSO members.

As per PSO’s standard protocol, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement will investigate the deputy involved shooting. This is an isolated incident, and there is no public safety threat. The deputies who fired the rounds have been placed on paid administrative leave pursuant to policy. The investigation remains ongoing, and no additional information is available at this time.
